Javier Campos, 34, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 1, after walking into the Fairfield Police Department and confessing to the crime that took place at the Cumberland Farms in Fairfield on Sunday, Nov. 29, said Fairfield Police Lt. Antonio Granata.
According to Granata, Campos came to Fairfield Police Headquarters and informed officers he wanted to speak with detectives regarding the robbery at Cumberland Farms.
Campos provided specific details about the robbery to detectives and confessed to being the masked man who ordered the clerk to open the register.
Campos also told detectives he was remorseful and felt compelled by his conscience to turn himself in.
He was arrested and charged with robbery and larceny. Campos was released on a promise to appear ticket and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Dec. 28.
